BEHIND THE RESULT
On 28 April 2025, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reached an IPL century from 35 deliveries for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans. The ICC’s report identified him as 14. He finished with 101 from 38 balls, including seven fours and 11 sixes, in a Rajasthan victory.
This was his third IPL innings. The report also discussed the challenge that comes after a spectacular breakthrough: learning to handle setbacks. A single innings can be extraordinary without making the rest of a teenager’s sporting life predictable. The record described here is dated to that match, rather than presented as an unchanging current ranking.
What do you notice when watching a young player: only the big shots, or also the decisions between them? A useful practice journal could record one choice you made well and one you would change. This is an editorial learning prompt, not a training method attributed to Vaibhav.
